Help me understand, why do we want to send them the email? For example, would we want to say anything about hurricane Katrina?

There are actually 162,402 records available as follows:

Baptist Churches (with web sites - 10,612 ) total - 92,182

Christian Churches (with web sites - 3,091) total - 13,349

Methodist Churches (with web sites - 4,434) total - 29,960

Pentecostal Churches (with web sites - 860) - total - 13,329

Presbyterian Churches (with web sites - 3,588) - total - 13,582

I just got the ones with web sites first to build the directory.

As a church, the reason you would want to respond is:

#1 -To make sure that your church's information is properly listed in this public registry.

#2 - By linking to them from this directory, we will help improve their web site's ranking in search engines

That's all I can think of right now - of course
our purpose for doing this is to build "brand awarenes" of Adventures In Missions and possibly increase inquiries about AIM's services. It's basically indirect cold-calls - you verify your information and at the same time become aware of Adventures In Missions.

If you or Mark can think of some additional value-added features that I could add to the directory, I'll do it. I'll be thinking about it as well...!

how did you get these 22k churches and are there plans to get any more?

Here is Phase 1 and 2of the church marketing process using the data that I purchased from Info USA.

Phase 1 - The Directory: http://www.adventures.org/directory/

Phase 2 - The Contact manager: http://www.adventures.org/contacts/ - There are 22,556 records in the database

The idea is this:

1) I will use my data extractor to pull email addresses from the web sites in the church database and load them in the contact manager. I did 4 manually to show you what it looks like. (Click on "Contact Sites" to view these)

2) We will contact each church to ask them to verify their contact information and add a description to their free page if they would like.

3) Through this contact, they will discover Adventures In Missions through indirect solicitation and hopefully inquire further about our services.

The few things I have left to do:

1) Use the data extractor to pull email addresses off the church sites

2) Add the ability to create an account, log in, and manage their directory listing.

3) Create a merge tool to send the church contact directly to their end page

We should probably discuss this with Mark A, Paul, and Mark L to make sure that we use the right wording and process to maximize the effectiveness of this campaign.
